DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A father and his two young daughters have died, and two other kids are hurt following a crash involving a tractor-trailer in DeKalb County.
It happened just before midnight on Tuesday on I-285 in the eastbound lanes, according to the DeKalb County Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the exit ramp from I-285 onto I-20 eastbound around 11:52 p.m., where an 18-wheeler and truck crashed.
The family of Taraja Ramsess, 41, said he was a stuntman in the film industry and he was on his way home last night when the accident happened. Ramsess' family said that he was killed along with his 13-year-old daughter and newborn daughter.
Two other children were in the car and they were taken to the hospital critically hurt, authorities said. In an update, DeKalb Police said one of the children is still in critical condition and the other child is in serious but stable condition.
John Stephens said he worked with Ramsess for years and watched him move into the film industry from the art department to a grip to a camera person to a stuntman. Stephens said his number one priority was always his family.
"Kind, caring, loving, thoughtful, respectful, exemplary person... just one of the best people I've ever known," Stephens said. "I'm gonna miss him he's a big part of my life my heart my soul I'm gonna miss him."
DeKalb Police's Traffic Special Unit is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
An online fundraiser has also been set up for the Ramsess family.
