BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. — An overnight crash involving two tractor trailers on I-75 in Butts County left two people dead.
According to Georgia State Patrol, troopers were called to I-75 near mile marker 201 by the Butts County Sheriff's Office just before 1:20 a.m
Officials report the tractor trailers were headed north when the first one jackknifed, going across the northbound lanes, and into the grass median. The tractor trailer overturned and also hit the guardrail, GSP said.
Troopers said the second tractor trailer went into a wooded area and hit several trees. GSP report the wreck shut down northbound lanes on I-75 for a while.
The two people who were inside the tractor trailer that jackknifed died, according to GSP. Their identities have not been released yet.
Two other vehicles hit debris from the overturned tractor trailer.
This crash is still under investigation.
