ATLANTA — Update: The Georgia Department of Transportation said they've canceled the road closure on Ga. 400 this weekend.
They said in an email about the closure that,
"In order to take full advantage of the full SR 400 NB closure, additional preparation work is needed. The saw cutting of the existing concrete bridge deck in particular is what is going slowly."
Original story below:
All lanes of Ga. 400 (state route 400) will be closed heading northbound for periods of time over the weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
GDOT said Ga. 400 northbound from the I-285 eastbound on-ramp to Hammond Drive will be completely closed Friday and Saturday nights in order to demolish a bridge. Several ramps will also be closed in the coming days.
The "Transform 285/400" improvement project "is designed to help reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety in the area near the I-285/SR 400 interchange," according to the GDOT website. They're adding new flyover ramps, new collector-distributor lanes and "other facilities to aid east-west travel along I-285 and north-south travel along SR 400."
The project spans 4.3 miles of I-285 from west of Roswell Road to east of Ashford Dunwoody Road and 6.2 miles along Ga. 400 from the Glenridge Connector to Spalding Drive.
