ATLANTA — A man was taken to the hospital and another is in custody after a hit and run that happened on I-75 at University Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The man hit by the fleeing driver was immediately taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said. Witnesses told police that a black sedan drove away from the scene after the incident.

Shortly after, the same suspected car was involved in a vehicle crash. Police said no one reported any major injuries from that crash. Police were able to track down the car near Lexington Avenue after witnesses gave police more insight on the suspect's direction.

Darwin Williams, 35, was arrested and is being charged with a hit and run and failure to maintain lane.
