Motorcyclist ejected, killed in I-20 wreck

During the investigation, traffic was diverted to nearby city streets, which crippled traffic for hours.

ATLANTA — A motorcyclist was killed in a wreck that closed a busy Atlanta interstate and snarled traffic for hours Saturday night.

Atlanta Police said the wreck happened on Interstate 20 near the Flat Shoals Road exit at about 7:20 p.m.

Their preliminary investigation indicated that a motorcycle struck another vehicle, ejecting its rider during the crash.

The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.

According to police, the other driver remained on the scene of the wreck during the investigation.

During the investigation, traffic was redirected onto nearby city streets, which crippled traffic surrounding the interstate for about three hours.

Traffic was restored on I-20 by about 10:30 p.m.

Earlier in the evening, DeKalb County Police investigated a motorcycle accident nearby, though that rider's injuries were described as moderate.
