DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — All lanes on I-285 South on the Eastside Perimeter were closed Wednesday morning following a multi-vehicle wreck.

Lanes were closed just past Stone Mountain Freeway/US-78 in DeKalb County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation described it as a "major accident involving multiple vehicles."

"All lanes are blocked at this time. Emergency responders are on scene working to reopen lanes, there is no estimated time of clearance, and all motorists traveling in this direction are advised to use alternate routes or give extra time for travel," a GDOT advisory said.

Traffic cameras showed the backup building as far back as Lavista Road/Hwy. 236.

Those looking to get around it could take Northlake Pkwy. south, cross Lawrenceville Hwy. to where it continues as Cooledge Rd. and then go onto E. Ponce de Leon Ave. to continue back west to I-285.

Alternatively, if you can get off at Lavista Road, go west and then south down Frazier Rd. to McLendon Dr. and then get onto E. Ponce de Leon Ave.
