ATLANTA — UPDATE: Lanes have reopened in this incident, though delays continue to stretch up past Atlanta Road along the Westside Perimeter.
Original story below
A wreck caused major backup on I-285 on Atlanta's Westside Perimeter on Monday afternoon.
It happened just before Cascade Road, south of I-20, and initially had three of the four lanes on I-285 South in the area blocked up.
The Georgia Department of Transportation had an estimated clear time of 6 p.m. - much longer than normal for most wrecks. It was unclear if there were major injuries in the wreck or if the timeline might come down at some point.
Traffic cameras showed delays were stretching far up the Westside Perimeter, past I-20 and almost as far as South Cobb Drive.
11Alive Traffic Tracker Crash Clark advises drivers to consider going through Downtown along I-75/85 if you're traveling south of the city.
