COBB COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE 10 A.M.: Lanes have reopened in this incident.
Original story below
A wreck has I-285 North blocked in Cobb County on Wednesday morning at a busy interchange right before the exits to I-75.
Traffic cameras showed several first responder vehicles on scene of the wreck, with through traffic on I-285 blocked. It appeared cars were being diverted into the I-75 South exit lane to get forward on the right hand side.
The slowdown is affecting anyone looking to exit on I-75 South, get through on I-285 to the I-75 North exit or continue along on I-285 as it becomes I-285 East (though it looks like lanes that continue through for I-285 remain open, but slowed down by everyone trying to move over to the I-75 lanes).
Backup on I-285 north on the Westside Perimeter could be seen as far back as South Cobb Drive (update: traffic cameras just before 8 a.m. show a lot of people now exiting as far back as Bolton Road).
There also appears to be a large police presence for the situation.
Cobb Police said in a statement: "Our STEP Unit was just activated for a serious vehicle accident involving a passenger vehicle into semi-truck at exit 19. We have no further information at this time."
