ATLANTA — A 32-year-old man is now dead after he was hit by a car early Wednesday morning on Interstate 75/85, according to Atlanta Police.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's identified the man as Mychal Trice.
Traffic was backed up for several hours as crews worked two incidents on the interstate, but the lanes have since reopened. Crews were called out around 5:27 a.m. and said roads would be cleared by 7 a.m. It happened on I-75/85 in the northbound lanes before University Avenue.
According to an investigation, Trice was a pedestrian along the HOV lane when a Ford Explorer hit him. The impact projected Trice from the southbound HOV lane over the median wall and into the northbound HOV lane where he was then hit by a Motor Coach Bus, police said.
Both drivers stayed on the scene as authorities investigated the incident. Police said they do not know why the man was on the interstate.
11Alive's Jerry Carnes was near the scene of the crash where he saw several emergency vehicles on the scene and several cars involved in one of the incidents. The investigation continues.
