58-year-old man dies after speeding into tractor-trailer in Clayton County, police say

All lanes were closed and traffic was at a standstill when Peter DeToffoli sped into the tractor-trailer that was involved in an earlier crash.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County Police said early Friday morning that a crash on I-75 North had left a person dead. The department first posted about the crash on Facebook around 3:30 a.m.

Officers were dispatched to a crash with injuries involving a tractor-trailer around 3 a.m. on I-75 near Forest Parkway and Tara Boulevard. 

According to officials, all lanes were closed and traffic was at a standstill while crews responded to the crash.

While officers were cleaning up the tractor-trailer crash, 58-year-old Peter DeToyffoli sped through traffic striking the back of the truck, police said. 

DeToffoli’s car went under the trailer truck, killing him on impact.
