BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A three-vehicle crash crash shut down all lanes along Interstate 75 Monday in Bartow County for nearly three hours.
Georgia Department of Transportation traffic officials issued an alert via its 511 service. According to the alert, the crash took place just after 2 p.m. by mile marker 303 by Adairsville.
A spokesperson with the Georgia Department of Public Safety said a white Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on the right lane with a flatbed truck traveling behind it. A black Chevrolet Silverado was hauling a black trailer in front of both vehicles.
As the white Silverado was trying to change into the middle lane, the flatbed struck the rear of the vehicle. This caused the white SIlverado to spin out and come to an uncontrolled stop in the median, officials said. Following the impact, the flatbed truck struck the rear of the trailer the black Silverado was hauling. The flatbed eventually came to an emergency stop on the right shoulder; the black Silverado stopped in front of the flatbed.
The crash unfolded before SR 140/Folsom Road and caused back ups for at least four miles.
As authorities worked to clear the crash, the driver of the flatbed and white Silverado were taken to a nearby medical center for minor injuries, crash investigators said.
All lanes reopened at 4:40 p.m., public safety officials said.
