ATLANTA — Memorial observances are planned for Rosalynn Carter at the Carter Center in Atlanta this afternoon, with a motorcade traveling to the city from south Georgia to bring her remains to the center where she will lie in repose.
As the motorcade reaches the Atlanta area, drivers on the road can expect disruptions.
According to a post by the Henry County Police Department, rolling closures on I-75 North will occur as the procession arrives in the metro area.
- It won't be possible to predict exactly which areas of the interstate will close at which times, but a private ceremony at the Carter Center is planned for 3:15 p.m.
- That means it's probably safe to assume you could get stuck behind a closure anytime after 2 p.m. if you're south of Atlanta. The motorcade is traveling north from Americus.
"Please be advised that travel in the area will be impacted greatly during this time. We encourage everyone to plan their routes accordingly, allowing for possible delays and traffic diversions. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we honor and pay our respects to Mrs. Carter and her legacy," the Henry County post stated. "This post will be updated as time information changes."
Rosalynn Carter will lie in repose later this evening from 6-10 p.m. at the Carter Center.
