GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: Lanes have reopened. 11Alive is still working to obtain details about the nature of the police activity.

Original story below

An incident involving police activity in Gwinnett County has I-85 South shut down at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

It was not initially clear what the police activity was in response to.

The Georgia Department of Transportation's 511 website reports an anticipated end time to the situation of 1 p.m., as of around 10:15 a.m.

Traffic is backing up I-985, almost as far as Buford Drive, and up I-85 past the Mall of Georgia area.

How to get around it

The best way to continue south on the I-985 side is Buford Hwy./US-23. On the I-85 side, it's probably Rock Springs Road to Old Peachtree Road back to I-85.
