GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A wreck involving an overturned tractor trailer closed multiple lanes of I-85 South near Suwanee on Friday afternoon.
The Gwinnett County Police Department said in a tweet that all lanes before the Lawrenceville/Suwanee exit were shut down. Traffic cameras indicated one line of cars already in the area was being allowed to pass through on the left shoulder.
The wreck occurred where I-85 South meets I-985.
In a statement, Georgia State Patrol said that just after 2 p.m. a Georgia Department of Safety officer was attempting to "assist another officer trying to stop a motorcycle driving recklessly."
GSP said the officer "impacted with a tractor trailer" causing it to overturn and catch fire. The agency said there were "minor injuries sustained by both drivers."
