ATLANTA — It won't necessarily guarantee your Labor Day travel plans go off without a hitch, but it definitely doesn't hurt.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending all interstate construction for the three-day weekend, it said on Twitter.
"In an effort to reduce congestion and maintain better flow of traffic, GDOT is suspending all interstate construction during Labor Day weekend," the agency wrote.
It added that lane closures would be restricted starting at noon on Friday and continue through 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
As an added bonus, GDOT also says that lane closures will be limited on major state routes that "directly serve key tourist and recreation centers."
GDOT has also provided a tip cheat for the best times to try and get out of metro Atlanta this weekend:
Now, if only they could somehow magically get people to stop crashing into each other.
