MARTA rail service resumes to Hartsfield-Jackson

Bus service has been used to shuttle passengers from the College Park Station to the airport since last Tuesday.

ATLANTA — MARTA rail service has resumed between the College Park Station and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

A bus bridge had been in use for passengers since Tuesday morning, when a derailment forced trains to terminate at College Park.

A crane was brought in to remove the derailed MARTA train, but the removal of the damaged rail cars took longer than anticipated.

When contacted on Sunday by 11Alive, MARTA released a statement that said, in part:

MARTA is running direct rail service from Airport Station to Doraville Station northbound and southbound on the Gold Line from Saturday through Monday. Customers traveling to the airport on the Red Line from North Springs must change trains at Lindbergh Station. Northbound customers from the airport will also transfer at Lindbergh for Red Line stations.

In addition, all southbound trains passing through the College Park station are boarding on the northbound platform on Sunday while repairs to the track in that area continue.

They hope to have normal service restored by Monday.
