Streets around Midtown Atlanta crane collapse still closed | Here are the detours

The street closures are to remain in effect "until further notice" according to city guidance.

ATLANTA — Portions of busy Midtown Atlanta streets remain closed Friday, four days after a crane collapsed at a construction site.

There still remains no concrete timetable for when the might reopen. According to city guidance, the street closures will remain in effect "until further notice."

In a similar situation in early 2021 just a couple blocks away, streets were impacted for a little under two weeks.

In the meantime, the city offered these detour routes in new guidance issued on Thursday night.

What's closed

  • West Peachtree Street, from 10th to 11th, remains closed
  • Spring Street, from 10th to 12th, remains closed
  • 12th Street has reopened

Northbound continuing on West Peachtree Street:

  • Right onto 10th Street
  • Left onto Peachtree Street
  • Continue north past 11th Street
  • Left onto 14th Street
  • Return to West Peachtree Street

Northbound on West Peachtree Street (local traffic):

  • Right onto 10th Street
  • Left onto Peachtree Street
  • Left onto 11th Street
  • Return to West Peachtree Street

Southbound continuing on Spring Street:

  • Left onto 14th Street
  • Continue east past West Peachtree Street
  • Right onto Peachtree Street
  • Right onto 10th Street
  • Return to Spring Street

Southbound on Spring Street (local traffic):

  • Left onto 12th Street
  • Continue east past West Peachtree Street
  • Right onto Peachtree Street
  • Right onto 10th Street
  • Return to Spring Street

"The Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department, Atlanta Police Department, and Atlanta Department of Transportation, are asking all motorists to avoid this area at all costs," a city release said. "Public  safety  personnel  are  on  site  to  redirect  traffic  away  from  the  area. Please  observe  all “closed,”  “caution,”  and directional  signage. Detours  have  been added  to GPS directional services."
