Driver pulled from car with minor injuries after it overturns on I-85, GSP says

The driver is OK, according to troopers.

ATLANTA — Several lanes along Interstate 85 southbound in Atlanta were blocked as emergency crews tended to an overturned car Tuesday evening.

A white sedan was seen on its side, blocking at least two lanes of southbound traffic near GA 400 by Lindberg Drive in Fulton County. Georgia State Patrol said the driver of a 2017 Lexus "failed to maintain its lane" and struck a 2019 Toyota Tacoma before flipping around 5 p.m. The driver was trapped, according to troopers.

11Alive's SkyTracker flew over the crash site, where it was evident the roof of the car was damaged and the hood crushed. Shattered glass was spread out over the roadway and the dashboard was crushed.

Atlanta Fire Rescue arrived to the crash site to pull the driver out. After making it out safe, the driver was rushed to the hospital with minor injuries, according to GSP.

Georgia Department of Transportation issued an alert saying four of the five lanes were closed around 5:16 p.m. Traffic was moving through the HOV lane for about 45 minutes before all lanes were reopened.
