DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — The Monday evening commute is looking rough for drivers, with traffic being diverted off Interstate 20 as crews work to clear a wreck involving an overturned tanker truck.
According to Georgia Department of Transportation information, the crash happened in the westbound lanes of I-20 near Thornton Road earlier this morning, just around 7:15 a.m., but it's not expected to be clear until 7:15 p.m. 11Alive is working to get more details on the crash itself, including how it happened and whether anyone was hurt.

Right now, traffic is being diverted off the interstate at Thornton Road.
According to 11Alive's Traffic Expert Crash Clark, Hwy 78/Veterans Memorial Hwy is the best alternate, but drivers should be aware that it's also likely to be packed with other drivers seeking a way around the crash and cleanup.

According to traffic data at the time of writing this story, it's taking drivers nearly 100 min on the west side of I-285 to Hwy 92/Fairburn Road -- about 20 miles --with speeds crawling along at 8 mph.
