ATLANTA — Atlanta Police say I-20 has been reopened after a tense moment on a well-traveled bridge above it.
Authorities initially closed eastbound I-20 at Boulevard due to police activity involving a man on the bridge above, several officers, and negotiators. Traffic cameras, however, soon showed limited traffic on the westbound side as well.
With traffic being diverted onto Boulevard, the backup lasted roughly two hours on one of the city's busiest roadways.
However, a spokesperson for the department said, around 10 p.m., that the man in question had since come down from the bridge and is safe - though the specifics of the incident are still limited.
