43-year-old woman killed after deadly accident in Cobb County, police say

It happened at the intersection of Dallas Highway and Friendship Church Road on Friday afternoon.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 43-year-old woman is now dead after a car accident in Cobb County on Friday afternoon, according to police

It happened at the intersection of the Dallas Highway and Friendship Church Road. Authorities said that the Selective Traffic Enforcement Unit was activated during the crash.

Police said that around 5:33 p.m., 43-year-old Charlene Lott of Columbus was driving a silver Honda Accord eastbound on Dallas Highway when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle rotated counterclockwise toward the westbound lane, police said.

A driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck tried to turn left, entering the Honda's path. Police said the front of the pickup truck collided with the right front of a Lexus.

The pickup truck then rotated clockwise until it came to a rest. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with "superficial injuries."

Lott was also taken to the hospital, where she later died.

The 11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene on Friday, where a black pickup truck and a silver sedan appeared to have crashed at the intersection of the roads. The two vehicles appeared to be destroyed, with shattered glass scattered across the intersection.

Authorities are still investigating the collision.
