ATLANTA — The Monday morning rush hour got off to a rocky start with all lanes on I-285 near Moreland Avenue completely shut down from 1 a.m. to just before 7 a.m.
Pack your patience this morning. Here's a look at what has been a hectic morning commute:
9:30 a.m. | We have learned four people died in the wreck at Moreland Avenue on I-285. Another person was killed when he was struck changing a flat tire.
8 a.m. | A crash on 75/85 northbound near I-20 had all lanes blocked for a short time, but they were able to push it to the side. Big delays remain from Highway 166.
7:30 a.m. | The wreck and the investigation at has cleared on I-285 NB at Highway 29/Lawrenceville Highway but the gridlock stretches back to Glenwood.
7 a.m. | After an hours-long investigation near Moreland Avenue, some cars ran out of gas and are now scattered off the road.
6:50 a.m. | We learned the incident on I-285 at Lawrenceville Highway is a police investigation after a person changing a tire was struck.
6:35 a.m. | Multiple lanes have reopened at the wreck on I-285 near Moreland Avenue after nearly six hours.
6 a.m. | A crash on 75/85 northbound at University Avenue has three right lanes blocked.
4:45 a.m. | I-285 northbound at Highway 29 / Lawrenceville Highway has two left lanes blocked.
4:10 a.m. | The eastbound lanes of I-285 are shut down just before Moreland Avenue in DeKalb County for an investigation that has been ongoing for several hours.
Motorists are urged to use I-75/85 NB into town and head east on I-20. Traffic is being forced off at Jonesboro Road / Hwy 54.
The investigation began at around 1 a.m.
The Georgia Department of Transportation says lanes should be clear by 7 a.m. and said that it involved a total of six vehicles. At around 6:30 a.m., traffic cameras showed at least one lane of traffic getting by.
