Infant fighting for life, 2 adults hospitalized after crash on I-85 in DeKalb County, police say

It happened on Friday morning; GDOT said crews responded around 6:24 a.m.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Three people were taken to the hospital, including an infant who is now fighting for life, after a crash on Interstate 85 at Shallowford Road in DeKalb County early Friday morning, police said. 

It happened just around 6:30 a.m. when Georgia Department of Transportation crews responded to the northbound lanes at Shallowford Road. 

Authorities added that the crash happened near the exit when two vehicles crashed.

DeKalb police said that two adults were taken to the hospital with "non life-threatening conditions," while the infant is in "critical condition."

The crash brought traffic to a standstill during the Friday morning commute. Lanes were finally reopened four hours later around 10 a.m.

The crash, including the cause, is still under investigation. No other details were released.
