COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Witnesses and fire officials said no one was injured when a small jet slid off of a metro Atlanta runway on Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred at Cobb County International Airport near Kennesaw and involved what online flight records suggest is a privately-owned Honda HA-420 HondaJet. Cobb Fire said that it responded just before 4 p.m. to reports that the aircraft had skidded off the runway.
"When the plane landed its brakes failed to stop the plane," Cobb Fire spokesperson Troy Lange said. "The pilots used the emergency to stop the plane." As a result, it left the runway, and video from the scene shows it sitting upright in a grassy area nearby.
Lange said two pilots were the only people aboard the aircraft, that there were no injuries and that the aircraft had "very little damage."
