ATLANTA — Beginning next year, Alaska Airlines will be offering a new way for travelers to get from Atlanta to the West Coast.

The airline announced Monday that it was adding a nonstop route between Atlanta and San Diego that will go into operation effective May 16, 2024. The company said in a release that advance ticket purchases for the route are now available.

The release noted that flights will leave San Diego in the mid-morning, arrive in Atlanta in the late afternoon, with return Atlanta-to-San Diego service in the early evening.

“Not only are San Diego and Atlanta popular destinations for leisure travelers, but both are also major business hubs. We’re excited to connect the cities, especially since Atlanta is our largest  unserved transcontinental market from San Diego," Alaska's vice president of revenue management and network planning, Kirsten Amrine, said in a statement.
