ATLANTA — A confrontation with a Delta flight attended caught on camera forced two people off a plane Monday night.
Video posted to Twitter showed things taking a turn. Posts on social media said the flight was supposed to be heading to Atlanta, but they claim they were stuck on the tarmac in Miami due to the commotion.
11Alive reached out to the airline about the incident to see what the disagreement was about. They would only confirm that two people "did not comply with crew safety instructions" and were asked to leave the plane. Here is the airline's full statement:
“There is nothing more important than the safety of our people and customers. That’s why two customers who did not comply with crew safety instructions were asked to deplane Flight 1997 this evening. We do not tolerate violence of any kind and this situation is currently under investigation. We apologize to customers for the flight delay this caused.”
In the video shared on social media, you can see a person who appears to be the flight attending talking to someone. There are also two people standing. Then you see a passenger get in the flight attendant's face. The video is shot from several rows away, but you can also clearly see the flight attendant lean back as it appears the passenger hits her.
Others on the plane also react verbally when they see what is happening. You can even hear someone in the video say, "you can't be fighting the flight attendant."
Passengers tweeted that eventually police came aboard and the passengers got off of the plane.
Delta even replied to some of the passengers who were tweeting when the situation was unfolding.
