Thanksgiving travel | Delta Air Lines cancels about 300 flights

"We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience," the statement said.

As travelers headed to airports around the country to reach their Thanksgiving holiday destinations, a major Atlanta-based airline canceled hundreds of flights.

"We have canceled about 300 flights today," Delta Air Lines told 11Alive in a statement on Thursday.

The company said several factors impacted their ability to timely staff several dozen scheduled flights.

"We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience these flight cancellations have cause," the statement said.

Delta added that the majority of its customers had been rebooked for flights during the same travel day.

"If a flight is canceled or significantly rescheduled by Delta, customers are proactively contacted with new flight details and have the options of adjusting their new booking, receiving eCredit for future travel or seeking a refund," the statement reads.

The airline is still maintaining its blocked seating policy.

Last week, Delta announced middle seats will continue to be blocked on all of its flights through the holiday season and until at least March 2021, and it plans to limit its onboard capacity.
