ATLANTA — Megabus has ended service for Atlanta routes to some major cities up the I-85 corridor and through the mid-Atlantic, in changes that went into effect on August 16.

A notice was posted to the Megabus website saying routes operating between Atlanta, Charlotte, Durham, Richmond and Washington, D.C. have been discontinued.

"Customers with tickets booked on these services have been notified and refunds have been processed," the notice stated.

Many routes between Atlanta and other regional cities in the Southeast remain in operation. Tickets were available Monday morning, for instance, for service between Atlanta and Savannah and Atlanta and Columbia, South Carolina, as just two examples.

Changes to other U.S. routes included discontinuation of service between the Texas cities of Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston; and routes in the Northeast between New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. now being operated by the Peter Pan service.
