ATLANTA — UPDATE: Spirit reports their airline app remains unavailable, which could lead to delays with check-in.

A "technical issue" reported Thursday by Spirit Airlines has resulted in a nationwide system outage, resulting in delays across the country.

The company said in a tweet that its website, mobile app and airport kiosks are "currently unavailable at this time" so those with Spirit flights should plan to arrive at the airport early.
That includes in Atlanta, where delays are already happening as a result of the system outage.
Atlanta Airport delays tied to Spirit Airlines outage
According to FlightAware, as of about 2:20 p.m., Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport had"
- 71 delays for departing flights
- 76 delays on flights that are scheduled to arrive in Atlanta
The majority of those are related to the Spirit Airlines outage.
11Alive will continue tracking these figures throughout the morning until the Spirit Airlines situation is resolved.
Vanessa Ruffes, an anchor with 11Alive's Charlotte sister station WCNC, was one of the travelers at the Atlanta airport, reporting that the gate agent for her flight said they were unable to board because Spirit Airlines staff currently can't print flight paperwork.
According to FlightAware's cancellation and delay tracker, more than 270 Spirit flights were delayed by 10:30 a.m. Eastern, about 33% of the airline's total flights for the day.
Some Spirit travelers on social media reported hours-long delays.
