ATLANTA — You may have noticed 11Alive meteorologists have been doing weather forecast a little differently over the past few weeks. Our weather team is now the 11Alive Weather Impact Team.
The team not only tells you what type of weather to expect, but how to prepare for the impacts.
We know that the weather impacts us every day. Even a perfect bright sunny day impacts you and your family. But some days, there can be high end weather impacts. That's when we will issue a "Weather Impact Alert." That alert could be for an entire day, multiple days, or it could be for just a few hours.
Here's what you will see on air when we issue an alert. The top banner will prominently show the alert and our graphics will turn red. We will go beyond just issuing an alert. We will also tell you When the weather moves in with the timing of the system, the Impacts of that weather, and what you Need to do to keep your family safe.
Your first thoughts may be about an alert for severe weather. Of course, we will issue an alert for severe storms, tornadoes and flood threats. However, there are so many other weather features that could impact you. We may also issue an alert for fog, high winds, bad air quality or even extremely high pollen counts.
You'll see these alerts not only on TV. The moment we issue an alert, it takes over the front page of 11Alive.com. The entire focus shifts to the alert and the impacts associated with it on all platforms. When people go to 11Alive.com, 11Alive+ and all of our streaming apps, there will be no question that you can any information about the threats and that we are on top of the weather story.
The 11Alive Weather Impact team is committed to warn you ahead of the storm during the storm, and cover the impacts after the storm. Welcome to the 11Alive Weather Impact Team!
