'Acting like it's not cold': Few Atlanta residents take to the outdoors during frigid temperatures

Though the sun was setting and the temperature was dropping, spirits remained bright enough.

ATLANTA — The sunset Saturday was lovely, shining pastel colors on the horizon over the Atlanta Beltline near Ponce City Market.

Yet few people were out enjoying it on this frosty January evening.

“It’s cold,” said Chelsie Battley, who was posing for photos behind the Ford Factory lofts.

“Very nippy,” added Chianna Fowler, also posing for photos near the Beltline’s popular Eastside trail.

“Yeah, frigid. Painful,” added Cara Tripodis, carrying a warm beverage.

The Atlanta Beltline was downright empty compared to almost any other Saturday evening.

“Trying to get our exercise,” said Tripodis. “Despite the weather,” added her companion Dorian Triga.  “Usually, the Beltline is just so packed on a Saturday,” Tripodis said.

Two different photographers were spotted capturing images of women modeling not exactly arctic-style clothing.

“I feel good. I was just acting like it’s not cold,” said Fowler, wearing a mink coat and open-toed shoes.  “I like to be comfortable, but I like to look good,” added Battley, also clad in open-toed shoes.

Though the sun was setting and the temperature was dropping, spirits remained bright enough.

“Definitely glad we came out but definitely excited to get back in as well,” said Josue Dambreville, who was on the Beltline with his two sisters.

“We do not do cold here in the South,” added Hadassa Dambreville.
