ATLANTA — Sunday marks the second-highest pollen level on record for Atlanta, according to Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, which keeps the daily pollen count for the area.
Sunday's count is 8918. The all-time record was reached on March 29, 2012, when the count was 9369.
The primary contributors for Sunday's level are oak, pine, mulberry, sycamore and sweet gum trees. There are much lower pollen levels for grasses and weeds.
According to 11Alive meteorologist Wes Peery, we will not see any real relief from the extreme pollen levels until at least Tuesday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into Georgia.
