LIVE UPDATES: Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for south metro Atlanta counties

11Alive's StormTrackers are following a chance for severe weather this afternoon.

ATLANTA — According to the 11Alive StormTrackers, we could be seeing pockets of stronger storm activity today in the north Georgia region.

The National Weather Service has placed much of the region under a Level 1, or "marginal," risk for severe weather today, in a zone that includes much of eastern Georgia as well.

6:25 PM: The warning has been allowed to expire for Coweta County, but remains in effect for Meriwether, Pike and Spalding counties until 6:45 p.m.

6:00 PM: A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Coweta, Meriwether, Pike and Spalding County until 6:45 p.m.

5:39 PM: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning is canceled for Troup County, but remains in effect for Meriwether County until 6:15 p.m.

5:36 P.M.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Meriwether and Troup Counties until 6:15 p.m.

3:48 P.M.: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for Wilkes Conty until 8 p.m.

2:21 P.M.: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning was extended in Madison County until 3:00 p.m.

1:54 P.M.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Banks, Jackson and Madison Counties until 2:45 p.m.

1:40 P.M.: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been canceled for Forsyth County, continues for Hall and Jackson Counties until 2:00 p.m.

1:19 P.M: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Forsyth, Hall and Jackson Counties until 2:00 p.m.

12:59 P.M.: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been canceled for Fulton County. It remains in effect for Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth and Hall counties until 1:30 p.m.

12:38 P.M.: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Hall until 1:30 p.m.

The NWS reports 60 MPH wind and hail associated with this storm.
