ATLANTA — A round of storms bringing heavy rain, thunder and lightning across metro Atlanta and the broader north Georgia region on Monday morning has also brought with it some power outages.
The storms moving through produced several clusters of outages directly in and around Atlanta affecting hundreds of customers at a time.
The good news is the outlook for the rest of Monday does not call for any more storms this morning - but watch out for activity in the early evening again.
Here's an overview of how things are looking:
Atlanta power outages following stormy morning
According to Georgia Power's outage map as of 8:45 a.m.:
- There are about 1,500 customers overall affected in and near Atlanta.
- Roughly 300 are without power in the Adams Park neighborhood on the Westside.
- Nearly 700 are without power in the area of North Druid Hills.
- Another roughly 100 without power in the Morrow area.
- About 700 people lost power northeast of Atlanta, mostly east of Dalton.
According to Georgia EMC's outage map as of 8:45 a.m.:
- 444 outages in metro Atlanta
- 75 outages in west Georgia
- 142 outages in north Georgia
