Timeline: Coldest air of the season roars in overnight

Wind chills will fall into the teens across parts of north Georgia.

ATLANTA — After a morning of rain and snow across much of north Georgia, an Arctic cold front will usher in rapidly falling temperatures.

Tuesday night

Once the sun sets, the temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s, with wind chills in the mid-teens.

Any remaining moisture on roadways will freeze, setting up slippery spots and patchy black ice across the area

Drivers are being warned to take extra care in shaded areas and on overpasses and elevated surfaces.

Wednesday

Most schools and businesses closed on Tuesday, but are expected to reopen on Wednesday.

Wednesday will remain cold and breezy with highs only rebounding into the low 40s.

FORECAST: Icy patches could develop as cold air moves in
