Heavy rains inundate parts of metro Atlanta

Here's what the heavy rains from this morning left behind.

ATLANTA —

While the threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes is over, the threat for dangerous flooding is just ramping up. 

Water levels for creeks and streams are quickly rising, and spilling over into streets, fields and backyards.

\Here's a wrap-up of just some of the images and video of the flooding left over from Thursday's storms. 

ATLANTA

Flooding was spotted in an apartment complex parking lot near Pryor Street.

City of Atlanta crews put up barricades as Peachtree Creek rises and pours into a part of Woodward Way. At 3:30 p.m. the creek was at 15 feet and rising, approaching the flood stage of 17 feet.

DeKALB COUNTY

a section of the Peachtree Creek Greenway behind Corporate Square in Brookhaven was closed.  The trail will reopen when the water recedes, and conditions are safe.

CHEROKEE COUNTY

Wright’s Mill Road in Canton was under about 4 to 5 feet of water. 

People who live nearby told 11Alive the area typically floods, but they’ve “never seen it this bad.”

The water was also high in the Macedonia community, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Wright’s Mill Road also had to be closed because of flooding.

COBB COUNTY

Cobb PARKS has closed four parks due to flooding:

1. Noonday Creek Park

2. Tramore Park

3. Powder Springs Park

4. East Cobb Park

The parks will be closed until the waters recede. PARKS officials are also monitoring three other parks for rising water.

Waters from Mud Creek in Marietta was seen at the bottom of the stairs leading down to it.

DAWSON COUNTY

Streets like Etowah Lane were underwater, as were many areas along both sides of state Highway 9. One road even had to be closed, after flood waters washed away part of the asphalt. This was the scene on Holcomb Road around 2 p.m., as crews placed blockades on either side of the sunken street.

The Amicoloa Creek at Hwy 53 was also swollen, looking more like a river.

DOUGLAS COUNTY

Cedar Mountain Road at Brittain Road in Douglasville is closed due to flooding and possible drainage and road damage. Drivers are being asked to avoid this area if at all possible.

FORSYTH COUNTY

The waters of Pooles Mill were rising rapidly.

GWINNETT COUNTY

HALL COUNTY

Calvary Church Road in Hall County is closed after a water line break caused part of the road to wash away. 

11Alive's Ryan Kruger also spotted crews rescue a kayaker from the swollen West Fork Little River.

MADISON COUNTY

Water levels on this Ila, Georgia street rose dangerously high. An 11Alive Community StormTracker took video of water rushing through the pipe underneath the roadway from one side to the other.

PUTNAM COUNTY

Murder Creek coming off Lake Sinclair in Putnam county started to flood.

WHITE COUNTY

This is the view behind the Nora Mill Granary in Helen, Georgia, where the water levels have risen significantly.
