Winter Storm Warning for north Georgia mountains

The warning lasts until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. — A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for our northern most counties where we could expect 1-to-2 inches of snow with upwards of 3-to-4 inches in the higher elevations.

The light flurries have started to fall where heavier snow is possible in parts of Fannin, Gilmer, Murray and may extend into Union County. Outside of that area, you can expect a dusting. The warning lasts until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory has also been issued for Union, Towns, Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties. This advisory also lasts until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

It will be windy as well. A Wind Advisory will be in effect beginning at 4 p.m. Monday and will last until 4 p.m. Tuesday for Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, and White counties.

Winds will be out of the NW at 20 to 30mph with gust as high as 40mph. Winds this strong could blow around unsecured objects, and bring down weak trees and tree limbs. It could also produce a few power outages.
