ATLANTA — Many had their first freeze of the season on Wednesday morning, but another freeze is possible for many Wednesday night into Thursday morning as temperatures drop again.
In the downtown area, we expect temperatures to be around 33 degrees by morning. Outside the city, it will be colder. The suburbs will be between 28-32 degrees. We may even have temperatures in the low to mid-20s in the highest elevations of the northeast Georgia mountains.
With temperatures down to the 20s and 30s tonight, you need to think about protecting the 4Ps: Vulnerable people, pets, plants, and pipes.
This cold air will also be with us Friday morning. With some areas in north of the Atlanta metro flirting with the freezing mark again.
Morning temperatures will gradually start moderating a little. We go back to lows in the 50s by next week.
Afternoon highs also start moving back up. We return to the low 70s for the weekend. That will be trending just a few degrees above the average.
The dry air sticks with us for a while. Our next chance of rain is a low chance by next Tuesday.
