ATLANTA — We did see some of it yesterday in northwest Georgia, and anytime it gets this cold in Atlanta we start wondering: Is it gonna snow?
Coming out of Tuesday morning, there were freezing temperatures across the region as well as a wind chill advisory. The conditions are harsh, and resulted in closures of many school districts and government operations -- including Atlanta City Hall.
But... how about any snow?
Will it snow in Georgia today or later this week?
The short answer is pretty much no.
While it's very cold, for the most part there's no precipitation coming alongside the chilly temperatures -- meaning no snow.
Wednesday morning will see "feels like" temperatures in the single digits around metro Atlanta and north Georgia, but again, no expectation of snow mixed in.
Further into Wednesday the temperatures will climb, and though there is a chance for rain on Friday it won't be cold enough to turn that rain into snow.
It's not impossible we could see a light round of snow in far north Georgia, but generally there's no expectation for any snow to fall over metro Atlanta.
So, unfortunately, while we'll have to deal with bitter cold this week in the region, a silver lining with some snow doesn't appear to be in the cards.
