7:45 AM: These roads remain closed in DeKalb County:
7:30 AM: There is still potential for patches of black ice on interstates. Most of the major freeways and highways are clear and running smoothly Thursday morning.
However, black ice and treacherous conditions remain on surface streets throughout metro Atlanta. You are advised to drive with extreme caution until GDOT treats the roads or the ice melts throughout the day.
6:30 AM: After a frigid start, we will finally begin to warm a little this afternoon. We will stay below freezing until just after lunchtime (1 pm). Then we will be above freezing for multiple hours allowing some melting and thawing to take place.
Highs this afternoon will reach 42 degrees.
7:55 PM: Spelman College, Morehouse College, and the Atlanta University Center Consortium institutions will open at noon on Thursday.

7:33 PM: Security lines at Atlanta's airport, which had stretched to more than an hour wait time, are said to be back to normal.

4:44 PM: Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza and Town Center at Cobb and will close at 6 p.m. today due to inclement weather. Mall of Georgia and Sugarloaf Mills will close at 5 p.m. today. We are monitoring the situation and will continue to evaluate conditions.
4:42 PM: College Park City Hall will resume operations tomorrow, January 18, beginning at 10 a.m. The two hour start delay is to allow employees safe travel to work.

4:13 PM: The TSA and airport officials are strongly recommending passengers keep an eye on their airline itinerary for delays and cancellations, and arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure time. 1:03 PM: Wednesday night's performance of The Lion King has been canceled at The Fox Theatre. A performance has been added for Thursday Jan. 25 at 1 p.m.
1:00 PM: The windy conditions will continue with this really cold air in place. There is a wind chill advisory that remains in effect through Thursday morning. The wind chill will remain in the single digits and teens through the afternoon and evening.

10:48 AM: State government will remain closed Thursday across the 83 counties under a state of emergency, Gov. Nathan Deal announced.
“Our top priority is to ensure the safety of Georgians and to allow the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to continue doing its job,” said Deal. “Due to yesterday’s winter weather and continued freezing temperatures, ice continues accumulating on our roadways. GDOT is responsible for the maintenance of more than 17,900 miles of state roads and interstates. Currently, there are more than 12,800 miles remaining to be cleared and treated. In light of this, I urge people to stay home, stay safe and remain off our roadways. We will continue monitoring the weather and will provide updates as necessary.”

6:30 AM: Due to continued snowfall in the metro-Atlanta area, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has canceled nearly 50 flights out of Atlanta and 60 flights coming in, according to Flight Aware. Gwinnett County said it will open a warming center at 4 p.m. It's located at 182 Hunter Street in Norcross.
Troup County has a warming center located at 150 East Lukken Industrial Drive in LaGrange from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m.
3 PM: The National Weather Service has expanded and extended the Winter Weather Advisory to include all of the metro Atlanta area. It expires at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
1:09 PM Atlanta Public Schools canceled all after-school activities for Tuesday.
12:16 PM Fulton County Schools canceled extracurricular activities for Tuesday, including Primetime and athletic practices. Parents with kids in the after school program should make arrangements to pick students up early.
12:05 PM Douglas County Schools canceled all afterschool activities and programs. Parents are encouraged to pick up their students by 4:00 PM, including ASP students.
11:13 AM Carroll County Schools canceled all evening activities for Tuesday.
10:45 AM Cobb County School System canceled all evening activities except ASP which will operate on a normal schedule. Parents are strongly encouraged to pick up their children as soon as possible after school.
