DAHLONEGA, Ga. — After a big winter chill set in this week, temperatures are expected to bump back up on Thursday -- but the cold air is set to return to parts of Georgia before the weekend.
That brings with it a new winter weather advisory that will take effect Thursday night and run into Friday morning in parts of north Georgia.
The advisory was issued early Thursday morning, and covers Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Lumpkin and White counties. It runs from 7 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday.
There could be a little mixing of freezing rain and rain in the far north Georgia mountains in those areas. Only light accumulation is expected at this time, so there could be a few slick spots.
The National Weather Service notes that, "Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening and morning commute."
