EVANS, Ga. — Both members of the Republican presidential ticket will be in Georgia on Friday, with former President Donald Trump joining Gov. Brian Kemp for joint remarks on Helene recovery in Columbia County while Sen. JD Vance campaigns in Floyd County.
The Trump/Kemp appearance will be held in Evans, Georgia, at 3:45 p.m. According to the Trump campaign, it will include a briefing "on the devastation of Hurricane Helene."
Gov. Kemp is also due after that at the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency about 30 miles away for remarks on Helene response with local and state officials.
The Vance campaign event , meanwhile, will be held earlier at The Mill in Lindale at 1 p.m. Tickets are required, with parking opening at 7 a.m. and doors opening at 10 a.m.
The Floyd County government notes the following on the parking and traffic situation:
The public is reminded that there will be heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Please use caution. Expect delays and/or traffic changes as a campaign motorcade travels through Rome and Floyd County. Consider alternative routes and timing if not traveling to the campaign event.
The campaign has not designated parking space, therefore, park at your own risk. Do not block streets. Emergency vehicles MUST be able to pass through roads and streets. This is a residential area, and visitors are reminded to be courteous. Respect private and business property when parking, or risk being towed. Do not park in driveways. Parking on school property is forbidden.
