TRICARE extends emergency prescription refills in Georgia due to impacts of Helene

All counties in the state qualify for the extension, according to a release.

ATLANTA — Those affected by Hurricane Helene who receive health insurance through TRICARE can now obtain emergency prescription refills for a bit longer. TRICARE is the uniformed services health care program for active duty service members, active duty family members, National Guard and Reserve members and their family members, retirees and retiree family members, survivors, and certain former spouses worldwide.

The Defense Health Agency announced Wednesday that the date has been extended to Oct. 9, 2024, a four-day extension from the initial date. All counties in Georgia qualify for the extension, according to a release.

To refill, beneficiaries should take the prescription bottle to any TRICARE retail network pharmacy.

If the bottle is unavailable or the label is damaged or missing, beneficiaries should contact Express Scripts, Inc. or their retail network pharmacy for assistance. If possible, they should visit the pharmacy where the prescription was filled. Prescriptions filled by a retail chain may be filled at another store in that chain. If the clinician who prescribed the medication is available, beneficiaries can ask them to call in a new prescription to any network pharmacy.
