HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Amid the devastation from Hurricane Milton, there's still room for a heartwarming story.
Rescue crews have helped save more than 100 pets from floodwaters in Hillsborough County.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said on their Facebook page that their crews had saved 104 pets in the last two days.
"We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve and protect all members of our community, big and small," the organization said in the post.
They highlighted one particular rescue, in which Captain Dusty Mascaro carried a pup to safety in several feet of water.
They also posted an image of what appears to be a converted school bus, operating as a makeshift kennel that's housing dozens of furry friends.
Several areas around the region are operating under new or continuing flood warnings, including Hillsborough County. Some shelters in the area are pet friendly.
