ATLANTA — As storms rolled through metro Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon, we saw flooding along with both downed trees and power lines.
One man was rushed to the hospital after a massive tree branch crashed into a home on Brighton Road in Buckhead.
“I was sitting in my room, just heard a big slam, Sam Pope explained.
Pope, who lives next door, said at first, he thought it hit his house.
“Two months ago, we had a branch fall through one of our bedrooms,” he explained. His home now has a blue tarp covering the roof.
Once he realized it wasn’t his house, Pope said he ran outside.
“I saw it hit the neighbors and ran over there to make sure everyone was alright,” he said.
Pope said they quickly said no. He said they called 911, and the man was rushed to the hospital.
“I’m hoping he’s OK,” Pope said, adding, “It’s super scary.”
The tree crashed into the back porch area of Pope’s neighbor’s home. It took down the fence and caused extensive damage to the roof of the porch.
It’s unclear where the victim was standing or walking when the tree fell on him.

Pope explained both his home and the neighboring home that was hit are rentals, owned by the same landlord. He said both branches, the one that hit his house and the one that hit his neighbor’s home came off the same tree.
He mentioned the next-door neighbors are still in the process of moving in. He didn’t know if the person who was hit is someone moving in or just helping in the move.
This comes just a little over a year when a prominent Atlanta realtor was killed when a tree fell on him walking in Buckhead. That happened less than two miles from where this tree branch hit a person Wednesday evening.
