Massive oak crushes truck in Brookhaven

Miraculously, the driver escaped with little or no injury.

A driver narrowly escaped injury in Brookhaven on Friday when a massive old oak tree came crashing down.

The tree landed on a truck that was heading west on Windsor Parkway as the winds of an earlier storm continued to batter the region.  Miraculously, the driver was able to escape with little or no injury according to accounts from the scene.

The tree, however, did damage the car and the sidewalk near where it came down. The resulting cleanup closed the major roadway from Le Conte Avenue to Saybrook Drive.

And it wasn't the only bit of damage experienced that afternoon in Brookhaven alone. Downed trees and wires shut down multiple roads in the area as a second wave of storms swept through metro Atlanta in the early afternoon.

When the tree came down on Windsor Parkway, other roads were just beginning to reopen.
