PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed Friday two more tornadoes that touched down in Georgia during Wednesday's severe weather.
The new tornadoes were confirmed in Catoosa and Carroll counties after crews further investigated damage in those areas.
According to the NWS, the tornado confirmed in Catoosa County was an EF-0 twister with peak winds at 85 mph. Officials say those winds are on the stronger side of the EF-0 scale.
The path of the tornado was about a quarter-mile long and touched down around 2 a.m. Nov. 30, just 2.3 miles northeast of Ringgold. The twister was only on the ground for about a minute and passed along Cherokee Valley Road and Swallow Lane.
According to the NWS, the tornado snapped several small trees and pulled siding off some homes. The worst of the damage, officials said, happened to a home where both garage doors collapsed inward and blew a portion of the roof off.
In Carroll County, the NWS said another EF-0 tornado with estimated winds of 75 mph touched down 2 miles northeast of Mt. Zion. That tornado touched down around 12:50 p.m. Nov. 30 and traveled about 4 miles along Lee Williams Road.
The tornado snapped several large tree branches and uprooted others along Pleasant Ridge Road, just south of I-20.
The NWS had previously confirmed four tornadoes in the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Mableton, Ga., Commerce, Ga. and parts of north Fulton and south Forsyth counties.
