Officials confirm tornado struck White County on Saturday

Winds over 100 mph ripped through an Airstream park.

HELEN, Ga. — Investigators from the National Weather Service confirmed this week that it was an EF-1 tornado that tore through an area of White County last Saturday.

The storm, packing winds of up to 105 mph, slammed though the Top of Georgia Airstream Park on GA-75, north of Helen, on Saturday night.

No one was hurt, but the storm pulled down wires and uprooted numerous trees in the area.

Tornadoes also struck Georgia on Monday night, with twisters touching down in Haralson County and western Fulton County, causing millions of dollars in property damage.
