Pollen count in Atlanta reaches highest level of the year, so far

Pine, oak and sweet gum are some of the biggest annoyances for allergy sufferers right now.

ATLANTA — Atlanta’s allergy pollen count reached its highest level of the year Saturday, according to Atlanta Allergy & Asthma.

The allergy pollen count is extremely high for pine, oak, sweet gum, sycamore and birch. Grass pollen and sheep sorrel are low. The total pollen count for Saturday is 1922.

The National Allergy Bureau (NAB) states that the 'high' range for tree pollen begins at 90 and 'extremely high' at 1,499.

The highest pollen counts for the last 11 years were:

April 11, 2018: 5,098

March 31, 2017: 3,559

March 29, 2016: 4,106

April 9, 2015: 6,152

April 4, 2014: 5,230

April 11, 2013: 8,023

March 20, 2012: 9,369

March 24, 2011: 3,939

April 7, 2010: 5,733

April 6, 2009: 3,584

April 14, 2008: 3,332
