Widespread rain, isolated strong storms possible through Monday | Full timeline

It won't be a complete washout for everyone, but heavy rain will be possible at times.

ATLANTA — We continue to track multiple waves or rounds of rain and storms throughout north Georgia between now and the end of Monday.

An additional 1 to 3" of rain is possible through Monday, with isolated higher amounts. A Flood Watch will be in effect through 7 p.m. Monday.

In addition, a few strong to severe storms can't be ruled out tonight through Monday. These are the Severe Weather Outlooks. West Georgia was just added to the Level 2 threat for today/tonight. All of the area is in a Level 2 out of 5 threat Monday.

Timeline

Sunday at 11:00 p.m.

Rain and embedded storms have built back in, and rain will become more widespread through the evening. At times, it could be heavy and some thunderstorms will be in the mix as well.

Monday at 7:00 a.m.

Coverage stays scattered to widespread overnight, and rain will linger for many for the morning commute.

Monday 10:00 a.m.

Showers and storms continue through the morning.

Monday 12:00 p.m.

The cold front works into north Georgia during the afternoon, giving us one last push of showers and storms. An isolated strong storm can't be ruled out here.

Monday 3:00 p.m.

Rain will gradually clear beginning Monday afternoon, and conditions will be dry by sunrise on Tuesday.

We will get anywhere from one to three inches of rain across north Georgia, with some isolated areas possibly picking up to four inches of rain.

This amount of rainfall should continue to push back our drought conditions. The Drought Monitor only showed a small amount of moderate drought in far north Georgia in the update Thursday morning. With the amount of rain we are expecting, we may become drought-free by the next update, which is released next Thursday morning.
